For many union members, the union is more a ‘family’ than it is an ‘organisation’. ‘Blue collar’ trade union members can be difficult to contact during regular office hours while they are on the job. Sensitivity is required when speaking with union members who may be involved in workplace industrial action, disputes with employers, or other challenges.
